The Braves junior varsity wrestling team shocked everyone last Saturday, January 19, when they defeated four very strong wrestling programs to win the JV duals tournament held at Heard High School.

The Braves scored huge wins over Douglas County 45-24, Carrollton 42-31, Lagrange 54-21 and Bremen 49-28.

Top finishers included Dalton Pate, Jordan Timmons, and Andrew Cannon who each finished 4-0 on the day. Zach Hyatt and Dylan Yates also finished undefeated at 2-0.

Ethan Hand, Cole Pate, James Sprayberry, and Matthew Brown each went 3-1 while Kinley Cantrell was 2-2.

“I was extremely surprised at how we wrestled and fought to win every match. We were able to forfeit three weight classes which is giving up 18 pts and still able to overcome it. I am very proud of our guys today,” stated Braves head wrestling coach Justin Ransom.

The varsity Braves wrestlers will compete this weekend (January 25-26) at the Bowdon Invitational.
