Keagan Spradlin No-Hitter Leads Braves in Region 5-AA Opener

(Cusseta, GA) — Junior Brave pitcher Keagan Spradlin tossed a no-hitter over five innings Tuesday night as the varsity Braves dominated the Chattahoochee County Panthers on the road in Cusseta to open the Region 5-AA baseball schedule.

The Braves offense scored in every inning including one run in the first, three runs in both the second and third innings, six in the fourth, and four in the fifth and final inning as the game was called because of the run rule.

The big hitters at the plate were junior Tristan Brown with three hits, four RBI’s, and two stolen bases and Drew Wulff who was 3-for-4 with four RBI’s and an exciting inside-the-park home run.

Sophomore Ethan Brant had two hits in three at bats. As a team, the Braves pounded out 15 total hits.  Spradlin struck out eight Panthers while allowing just one walk to earn his second win on the hill in as many weeks.

“Keagan Spradlin continues to improve as a pitcher each time he goes out to the mound,” said Braves coach Trent Bianco after the game. “He was great today. Anytime he can locate his fastball like he did today he’s going to be tough against anybody.”

Bianco was also pleased with the offensive prowess of his shortstop. “Tristan has been our table setter and when he gets on base good things usually happens,” Bianco added.

Despite the lop-sided win, Bianco knows his team has things to work on to get better. “We started slow today and have to continue to make in-game adjustments quicker. We’ve gotten to our region games now so everyone counts,” Bianco stated.

“Hopefully putting our guys through the tough early schedule will pay off in these region games. Going to 1-0 is always a good start and we’ll hopefully come out on Friday and play well for two more games against Chattahoochee County.”

The Braves will be at home Friday for the final two games of the three game series with the Panthers under the new best-of-three region format. The first pitch in game one Friday afternoon will be at 4:30 and game two will follow.
