Kemaiya Brewer leads HCMS Girls over Wildcats

Kemaiya Brewer tallied nine points to lead the middle school girls basketball team to a 24-21 home win over Villa Rica Thursday.

The close defensive struggle came down to the wire as Jordan Watson made two free throws with 37 seconds to play and then tough defensive play by the girls stopped the Wildcats as the clock expired.

Watson had five points on the day all coming on free throws. Sarah Schofield also added four points off the bench.

In the boys game, the Wildcats dominated the Braves throughout after jumping out to a 14 point lead early on. The lead at the half was 40-12 and the final was 54-28.

The scoring was spread around evenly for the Braves with Drew Wulff, Lashon Echols, and Dekari Brewer all had six points each. Carl Lipford was not far behind with four points.

HCMS is back in action Tuesday at Bremen before returning home Thursday to meet arch rival Bowdon at home. Girls games tip at 4:30 both days and will be immediately followed by the boys.

The West Georgia Athletic Conference basketball playoffs will take place January 31- February 3 at Bremen Middle School.
