Keonna Harris named GCAA/Region 17 Conference Player of the Week

32 Keonna Harris (1)(Carrollton, GA) — Keonna Harris, a sophomore guard on the West Georgia Tech women’s basketball team, was named conference player of the week for the second time this season – the league office announced on Tuesday.

The Harris County High School product averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a pair of games last week against Southern Crescent and Talladega College – both wins.

Harris won the player of the week award previously back in early November.

Harris averages 9.1 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game  and 3.7 steals per game for the No. 9-ranked Golden Knights.

“I’m very proud of Keonna for winning the award again,” said West Georgia Tech women’s basketball coach Kenny Edwards. “She has been such a hard worker for us and is a great leader on and off the court. We’ll need her to continue to play well and provide that leadership as we close out the reguar season schedule and prepare for the postseason.”

West Georgia Tech (16-8, 2-0) will return to the hardwood Friday night at conference rival Georgia Northwestern.

The Golden Knights are attempting to reach the NJCAA Division III Women’s Basketball National Championship Tournament Elite-8 for a second-straight season.
