Lady Braves bounce back at Lagrange

Sophomore catcher Brittany Graley bats during Wednesday’s home loss to Newnan

(Lagrange, GA) — The Lady Braves softball team bounced back from a 7-0 home loss to Newnan with an exciting 8-6 extra inning win at Lagrange Thursday.

The hard-fought win over the Grangers moves the team’s record to 2-2 on the young season.

Sydney Gay and Katelyn Jiles pitched Thursday for the Lady Braves who took an early 4-0 lead before the Grangers rallied with four unanswered to tie the game.

The Grangers scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh and had the bases loaded with no outs before the Lady Braves would thwart the rally.

The Lady Braves pushed across four runs in the top of the eighth and then held off the home team who plated only two.

Freshman Malone Aldridge had three hits and two RBI’s to lead the Granger offense.

Another freshman, Camdyn Smith, tossed all eight innings for the Grangers striking out four and walking two.

The Lady Braves pounded out 11 hits as a team.

The squad returns to action on the road Tuesday at Northgate High School in Coweta County before returning home to battle Troup County on Wednesday at HHS.
