In a solid defensive effort, Coach Helen Akins’ said allowed just seven first half points to the Greenwave and led 15-7 at the break.

The Lady Braves extended the lead to nine before the home team closed it to 28-27 with just 2:03 to go in the game.

That was as close as the Greenwave would get as the Braves would hold on for the four point win.

Sophomore Sophia Long led the Lady Braves in scoring with 10 points and senior Haley Bennett tallied nine including one shot from beyond the arc.

Morgan Kay had a nice effort with six points.

In boys’ action, the Braves welcomed the return of the football players who had missed the early part of the season, but the Greenwave would come away with a 70-57 win.

Both the girls and boys teams will be back in action when the squads welcome rival Callaway to Franklin Tuesday night for the region home openers (6:00/7:30).
