Johanna Beyer had a game tying hit in the bottom of the 8th inning during the international tie-breaker
(Franklin) — The Lady Braves dropped to 8-3-1 on the season after being stunned by the East Coweta Indians in extra innings Thursday night.
The Lady Braves were just one out away from a 3-2 win in the top half of the seventh inning when a pop-up dropped in the infield tying the game and forcing an international tie-breaker.
After the Indians went up 4-3 on a base hit by Shemiah Sanchez in the top of the eighth, Lady Brave center fielder Johanna Beyer roped a clutch single up the middle to score Hannah Sanders and tie the game at 4-4 and force a ninth inning.
The Indians were again able to push across the go-ahead run leaving the pressure once again on the Lady Braves to at least tie the game.
Leading off the ninth with the runner at second base, Cali Harrod hit a deep fly ball that was caught with an over the shoulder catch by the left fielder for the Indians who was able to double off Madison Whitehead at second base.
Jordan Watson was sharp on the mound for the Lady Braves with defensive miscues causing her biggest problems.
Morgan Goree also threw well for the Indians who moved to 10-1 on the season. The two teams will square off once again on September 10 at East Coweta.
The Lady Braves have a few days off before traveling to Callaway next Wednesday and then to Kennesaw State University on September 6 to face Buford.
