The home court advantage was not enough for the Lady Braves as four of the five matches in the best of five series went to the Tigers in straight sets.

The bright spot for the Braves was a straight set win by junior Jordan Callahan at the number one spot in the rotation. Jordan knocked off Madison Hall 6-1,6-2 to finish the season at 6-4 from the toughest draw during each match.

In other singles matches Jesse Echols shut out senior Alyssa Bishop 6-0, 6-0 and Erica Hendrix put up a fight before falling 3-6, 2-6 to Peyton Buress at the number three spot.

In the top doubles match, Jessica Weed and Brittany Sims went down 6-2, 6-2 to Cecelia Walker and Hope Ward. In the other doubles match, Emily Brook Hansen and Brook Mason were defeated by Logan Griffin and Camille Lewis 6-0, 6-0.

Coach Rich Fendley was proud of the season the girls had especially considering they only returned one starter from last season’s squad. The team will only lose two seniors, Jessica Weed and Alyssa Bishop heading in to next season.

“I was disappointed in how we played today but I was not disappointed in our season. I was surprised by how much this group improved throughout the season. I am looking forward to having most of our squad returning next season,” stated Fendley after the match.

Coach Bell Guin and the Tigers will advance to round two next week where they will meet Westminster from Region 6-AA.
