Lady Braves top Panthers in OT

(Franklin) — The Lady Braves knocked off the Chattahoochee County Panthers Tuesday night at home 44-38 in a Region 5-AA tilt that went to overtime.

Sophomore Kimberly Harris continued to shine as came off the bench for the Lady Braves and led the scoring with 14 points.

Other leading scorers were Cali Harrod with 10, Madison Whitehead with eight, and Whitney Emory with six. The win pushes Coach Helen Akins and the Lady Braves to 3-0 in region play.

The boys team fell to 0-3 in region competition as they lost a close game to the Panthers on Tuesday 70-62. Both squads will travel to Manchester on Friday (6:00/7:30) before traveling across the state line to Wedowee Saturday afternoon to face the Randolph County Tigers (2:30/4:00 EST).

Coach Manning’s squad did get a win over the weekend as they took down visiting Haralson County 58-44. In that win, Jordarius Foster led the way with 16 points and six rebounds.

Other top stat lines included Emory Jones with eight points and five rebounds, and Darius Matthews with eight points, four rebounds, to go along with four assists. On defense, Lashon Echols led the way with five steals.

The JV squad defeated the Rebels Saturday 44-30 after outscoring them 21-4 in the first quarter. Kendaz Goode led the scoring with nine and Christian Murray added eight.
