Lady Wolves Pound GCSU

The University of West Georgia Lady Wolves took to the court last night in a defensive battle with the Georgia College and State University Bobcats who made the trek all the way from Milledgeville, Georgia to Carrollton for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

Offensively, both teams came out of the gate about as cold as the weather outside. West Georgia jumped to an early 4-0 lead but it wasn’t long before the Bobcats put points on the board moving the score to 6-4.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats, this was as close as they would get to the Wolves for the night.

Turnovers plagued both teams in the first half with easy takeaways and sloppy ball handling. The halftime score reflected such as the teams headed into the locker rooms knotted in a 22-19 battle.

The second half was a much different story as the defense of the Lady Wolves began to shine. GCSU seem satisfied to run the clock on their possessions as they acquired several shot clock violations while trying to attack the UWG tenacious defensive play.

The Wolves game intensity transferred over to the offense as they lit up the scoreboard with 32 second half points en route to a 54-38 home victory that sent the fans home with smiling faces.

The leading scorers for the night for the Wolves were #32 Mone Peoples from San Francisco, California and #21 Krystal Delph from Winter Haven, Florida.

The win pushes the Lady Wolves overall record to 3-2. Their next game is this Saturday (12/3) at 7p.m. at the Coliseum as they face Morris.
