Letter to the Editor: HHS coaches seek community help for severely injured athlete

To the Heard County community,

We have had one of our own involved in terrible accident this past weekend. Junior Will Hutchins was involved in a car wreck which as of right now has left him paralyzed from the waist down.

We cannot imagine the emotions that have come with this, not to mention the burden of expenses Will’s family is about to endure.

Will has played baseball for both years in high school, his brother Ryan was also a baseball player all four years of high school, and his sister Laura was a softball player while in school. His mother Carla is a teacher at Heard Elementary School. This is truly a Heard County Braves family.

WillOur Braves family wants to show them that we are thinking about them, praying for them, and love them. We are going to try and raise $ 1,000.00 dollars by this Thursday.

Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated. If you need to write a check then write it to the Heard County Touchdown Club and we will get it changed over to the gift we are going to send to the family. Whatever you can send or bring in by Thursday will help us toward this goal as every little bit counts.

If you are an athlete’s parent then have your child bring money to Coach Lasseter on Thursday.

Anyone else who wants to contribute can do so by emailing heardcountybraves@gmail.com or calling Coach Barron directly at 770-712-1363.

Thank you for your support,

Heard County Coaches

We have some of the best coaches and they really care about the community. We are lucky to have these guys in HC. Thanks for getting this together, Shane Lasseter, Coach Barron and all others involved.

I just talked with the family, and they are overwhelmed by the love and support from the HHS and Franklin community support- we are blessed.

  3. This is a very sad situation. I wish all the best to Will and his family. If you notice a Coweta County grey Chevrolet Caprice that has the ghost lettering on it riding along or sitting on HWY 34 between the Heard Co line and Newnan that is Will’s dad Bryan. If you really want to talk to him just speed by him and he will come to you haha. Seriously though if you see him in passing wave or stop where he his sitting at and give him a good word of encouragement. This has got to be tough. Also if you would like to mail any cards diretly to Will and/or the family you can send them to 1068 Pea Ridge Road, Franklin, Ga 30217 Thanks.
