(Franklin, GA) – Chattahoochee Old Town (formerly Brush Creek Park) played host over the weekend to a large group of young children who enjoyed the annual Heard County Community Easter Egg Hunt.

The spring weather was ideal Saturday at noon for the annual holiday event sponsored each year by Sheriff Ross Henry and the Heard County Sheriff’s Department.

The 2019 edition of the hunt featured over 5,000 eggs and treats ensuring that each and every child walked away with a big smile.

Some of the luckiest kids were able to spot the special eggs which were hidden a little deeper than the others and contained some candy and other prizes.

The most anticipated moment of the day especially for the youngest children came with the arrival of the guest of honor, the Easter Bunny himself. He arrived in the back of a Heard County squad car driven by Deputy Heather Young.

The little kids flocked quickly to see their favorite bunny for hugs and pictures. Beth Gray from the Heard County School system was also on hand to sign up the tiny ones for the Baby Braves program.

Sheriff Henry, along with his staff, once again worked very hard to pull everything together for another successful hunt. The event is one of the longest running holiday events having taken place each year since 1998.

“Thank you to everybody that donated and volunteered to help us out this year — it is hard to believe we’ve been doing it this many years but we thank everyone that helped us to put this together,” said Sheriff Henry after the event.

“It seemed like the crowd may have been down a tad this year but it also seemed like we had more little kids than normal which is good. I just want to thank Chairman Boone and the park ranger for providing us such a beautiful place to have this Egg Hunt each year.”
