Local 4-H’er Elected Junior District Officer

(Putnam County, GA) — A local 4-H’er has been elected to serve as one of eight Junior District 4-H Officers for the  2015-2016 year.

Russ Moodyson of Dana and Wayne Moody, was elected Junior Board Member at the North West District 4-H Project Achievement held at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. He was installed there and will officially take office in June.

To qualify to run for Junior District Officer, a 4-H’er must be in good standing and a leader in their county 4-H program. They must presently be in 7th grade.

Potential candidates must also complete an officer application and earn a certain number of points for 4-H activities they have completed.

These include offices held, county leadership activities, citizenship activities, camps, and County/District 4-H project activities.

Approved candidates present two minute campaign speeches highlighting their 4-H work as well as their campaign slogan. Russ’s successful campaign was “Get Groovy with Russ Moody.” He was elected from a field of 26 candidates.

As a Junior Board Member, Russ will assist with Junior/Senior DPA 2016, Cloverleaf DPA’s and Junior Leadership Camp. He will also help plan and conduct the State Junior 4-H Conference.

He will attend Board planning meetings and is required to complete certain 4-H projects and contests throughout his year in office.

To prepare for the responsibility of leading North West District 4-H’ers this year, Russ will attend Junior 4-H Officer Training Weekend in June at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.

While there, he will attend workshops on podium presence, parliamentary procedure, theme development, vespers, officer communication, and many more topics.

Dinah Rowe, Heard County 4-H agent said “We are extremely proud of Russ and know that he will represent our county and district well.”
