(Franklin, GA) — Over 150 local children were treated to ‘Breakfast with Santa’ at the old recreation department gym Saturday morning.

Sponsored by the Heard County 4-H program, the event featured not only pictures and breakfast with Santa Claus himself but also ‘ Christmas Storytime with Granny and a visit to Santa’s workshop.

The program was very successful and 4-H director Dinah Rowe plans to make the event an annual part of Heard County’s Christmas celebration.

“I want this to be a fun event for the kids each year. Christmas is for kids and I wanted them to be able to look forward to it each and every year,” Rowe said Saturday morning. “I want to give special thanks to all of our volunteers and helpers and especially our biggest sponsor this year Oglethorpe Power.”

Rowe says that several others made anonymous contributions to help pull the festive breakfast together.

The two groups of children that attended enjoyed pancakes, sausage, and fruit after getting their pictures taken with ‘Old Saint Nick’ and Mrs. Claus.

According to Santa, some of the most popular toys asked for by the kids were legos, Barbie Dolls, and trucks and cars.
