Local DAR Chapter to Offer Genealogy Workshop in May

(Franklin) — For many it is exciting to learn about their ancestors and the historical period in which they lived.

It is so gratifying to uncover nuggets of information about their lives through a variety of sources including census records, history books, county records, photographs, obituaries, bible records, etc.

How fulfilling for this ancestor to finally take on a persona; you begin to know them!

350xThe James Stewart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is planning a Genealogy Workshop on Saturday May 9, from 11AM to 12 noon at the Heard County Library.

This will be a very informal meeting led by DAR members.

It is our desire to pass along tips and tidbits that we have learned over the years doing research.

The best way to start your research is to write down everything you know about your mother and father, your grandparents, and your great grandparents.

A helpful form may be found at this link. Print the form and begin penciling in the information you know. http://www.googleyourfamilytree.com/gyft_pedigree_chart.pdf

The workshop is FREE and is limited to the first 25 who sign up.

Please send an email to info@jamesstewartchapterdar.org with your name and phone number, or you may call Beverly at 678-488-1975, or Carla at 770-251-6780 (please leave your name and phone number if you reach voice mail).

We hope to see you there!
