Local Government Day at CES

(Centralhatchee) — More than 150 students from Centralhatchee Elementary School on last Tuesday got a close look at how their local government works.

Several departments from Heard County local government visited CES on November 17 for Government Day.

Officials answered questions and handed out information to the students as the visited each table/booth set up in the gymnasium.

Government Officials in attendance were State Representative Randy Nix, Heard County Commission Chairman Lee Boone, Centralhatchee Mayor Barbie Crockett, Heard County Magistrate Court Judge Brenda Jennings, Parks and Recreation Athletic Director Jeffery Head and Director Kathy Scott, Heard County Animal Control Kaylene Ingram and Code Enforcement Robert Nelms, and Heard County Public Works Director Darold Wiggins.

Members of Law Enforcement in attendance included Heard County Sheriff’s Deputies Cain Dean, Dalton Pate, and Will Hannah along with Sheriff’s Office Captain Jane Olinger, Franklin Chief of Police Kevin Hannah, FPD Officer Nikki Chapman and Heard County Fire Chief Steve Wirth.
