A local woman has been charged on several counts after a severe two-vehicle crash happened early Wednesday morning causing highway 34 to be closed down for about two hours.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Georgia Highway 34 west of Franklin near Woodbine circle.

The Georgia State Patrol reports that the at-fault vehicle was a 2005 Nissan XTerra driven by Anitra Marie Kent, age 30, from Franklin.

Kent is charged with two counts of serious injury by vehicle, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, DUI (blood test results pending), endangering a child under 14 years of age while DUI, and adult and child seat belt violations.

Troopers report that Kent’s vehicle was headed eastbound towards Franklin when she crossed the center line hitting a 2005 Buick Terraza driven by Dana Gail Moody, age 45, also of Franklin. Moody was transported to West Georgia medical Center from the scene.

Kent and her 8-year-old passenger, Nicolas Whitlock, were taken to Piedmont Newnan hospital for treatment.

our prayers are with the Moody family.

  2. This is a horrific sight. Its scary to see how fast life can change when your not paying attention. I will pray for Ms. Moody’s recovery, as well as for everyone who was involved in this tragedy. Has anyone heard an update on their conditon? How is the 8 year old boy?

    • Robert Moody says:

Ms.Moody is my mom and I went up to the hospital today and visited. She is fine but has several broken bones on both arms and legs. She will be ok and was able to grip things with her right hand and lift cups to her face but can’t put too much weight on anything. Thank you for your prayers
