Major League Baseball Player Wins Rifle in Heard County Raffle

C.J. Wilson, a major league pitcher who signed a huge contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim just last week, was one of the Thursday morning winners  in the Heard County Football/Baseball “27 Guns in December Raffle” drawing.

Wilson won a Marlin XS7/XL7 Bolt Action Rifle in the raffle, which is being held to raise money for the Heard County football and baseball programs.

According to Head Baseball Coach Shane Lasseter, a family member of a Heard coach is neighbors with a bench coach for the Texas Rangers. Lasseter stated that the coach has  sold several tickets to Rangers players and staff in the past two years.

Wilson was a member of the Rangers before signing as a free-agent last week with the Angels for a reported $77.5 million dollar 5-year deal.
