Man Facing Charges after Unsuccessful Armed Robbery

(Franklin, GA) — A local man is in the Heard County jail today and facing numerous charges after he allegedly tried to rob an acquaintance at gunpoint.

49-year-old Larry Fitzgerald Clark, a resident of Hwy 34 in Franklin, was arrested and charged on September 29 stemming from an alleged incident that took place at Davis Mobile Home Park on September 23.

Clark allegedly phoned the acquaintance around 10:00 PM that night from his home to ask for a ride to town.

When the man arrived that evening, Clark allegedly brandished a double barreled sawed off shot gun and demanded money from the unsuspecting victim.

According to a report by Heard County Sheriff’s Office investigator Jewell Longoria, the alleged victim only had $2.00 on his person and Clark later apologized for trying to rob him.

Clark is charged with Violation of Probation, Simple Battery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm in Commission of a Crime, Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
