(Franklin) — The Franklin Post Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Spradlin as Postmaster.
Melanie, a Heard County resident, began working as a clerk at the LaGrange post office in 1987. In 2004 she was appointed as postmaster at the Sargent Post Office.
Since then she has been an Office in Charge at Milner, Gay and Hogansville and Postmaster at Roopville.
In 2012 she came to Franklin to serve as OIC while then Postmaster Lonnie Bowen was on extended sick leave. The position of Postmaster became open when Mr. Bowen passed away in August of this year.
Mrs. Spradlin, a 1981 graduated from Newnan High School, is married to Phillip Spradlin of the Frolona community. She has two sons, twins Trevor and Tyler who graduated from Heard County High School, attended and played baseball at Young Harris College and now attends the University of Georgia. She is a very active member of the High Point Church of God.
“I am happy to be working at my hometown post office and plan on serving as Postmaster for many years before I retire here,” said Mrs. Spradlin.
