(Franklin) – The HCMS baseball team notched their first win of the season Thursday afternoon at home when they defeated the Holy Ground Mustangs 7-3.

Poor defensive play by the Mustangs keyed the win for the Braves who were out-hit 3-2 by the visitors. Austin Quillen and Ethan Brant each had base hits for the Braves.

Trey Alford started on the mound and got the win after striking out nine of the 11 batters he faced in three innings.

Austin Brown also pitched well in relief mowing down several batters in 2+ innings pitched.

It was the first win of the season for the middle Braves who next travel to Carrollton on Monday and Central on Tuesday.
