(Franklin, GA) – Heard County Middle School coach and athletic director, Allen Sikes, is preparing to be a part of something that he never thought possible.
The long-time pro wrestling fan will get an opportunity to step into the pro wrestling ring as part of a big Main Event tag-team match during the Classic Pro Wrestling event at the middle school Friday night.
Sikes will be teaming with former WCW, ECW, WWE, and TNA star Johnny Swinger as they do battle with Brian Alexander and “Hit for Hire” Bobby Moore.
The match came about at the last show two weeks ago when Moore and Alexander were attempting to seriously injure Swinger during the final match on the card.
Sikes did not want to see his hero Swinger injured so he jumped in the ring and came to his assistance, delivering a fierce football tackle to Moore and saving Swinger from serious injury. The challenge was then made for a tag match to settle the score between the four men once and for all. (See video courtesy of Wrestlejam below)
“Johnny Swinger was the first friend I made when we started these wrestling events a few weeks ago… he is such a great guy. When I saw Moore and Alexander trying to break his leg in the ring… I didn’t think about it… I just jumped in the ring to try to help him out,” said Sikes in a weekend interview.
The 40-year-old football, track, and basketball coach admitted he is worried about being injured in the match, but he feels it is something that he must do.
“At my age I am always worried about getting hurt when I do anything,” said Sikes. “My official trainer, Coach Heath Horn, has been putting me through some rigorous workouts over the past two weeks to try and prepare me for the match.”
Sikes expects this will be a one-time event for him. He sees it as not only an opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream, but also a chance to help raise more funds for his athletic programs.
Proceeds from the regular wrestling events go directly to the middle school athletic program to purchase much needed equipment and other necessities for all of the sports programs at the school.
Doors open at 6:30 Friday night with a 7:30 bell time. Several other big matches will be on the card as well. See the poster below for the other matches and ticket information.
