Miss Theresa Hopson

Miss Theresa Hopson, age 85 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at the Hospice LaGrange on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

Miss Hopson was born in Heard County, Georgia on September 29, 1930, the only daughter of the late, Blanche Glover Hopson and Bob Hopson.

She was a graduate of West Georgia College and retired from the State of Georgia where she was a supervisor in the State Archives Department.

After her retirement she moved back to Heard County and became a vital member of the Franklin United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She was also a member of the Heard County Chapter Pilot Club. Never wanting to be idle, she became a poll worker and assisted voters when election time came around.

As a very young child she became quite efficient with a needle and thread. Her family boasts that if she ever saw an outfit she liked, she could make an exact duplicate, thus making her one of the best dressed young women in the community during her school days.

Other than her sewing she was also a very talented artist and enjoyed all forms of crafts.

She was very close to her brother’s family and all of her many cousins. In the last three years of her life she had the joy of living with her nephew Scott Hopson and his wife Angie. She thought of their children as her very own.

Miss Theresa was a deeply committed Christian and a joy to be around. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by nephew Scott Hopson (Angie) of Franklin; great-niece Brittany Stikes (Bill) of Griffin; great-nephew Brock Hopson (Andrea) of Franklin; one great-great-nephew Logan Hopson also of Franklin; and  a host of adoring cousins.

Funeral services for Miss. Hopson will be conducted on Sunday, December 13, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at the Stutts Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Brett Mathews officiating.

The family will receive guests at the funeral one hour prior to service time. The interment will follow at a later date at the Franklin City Cemetery.

In lieu of Flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Franklin United Methodist Church.

Those who wish may write memorial tributes at www.stuttsfuneralhome.com.
