Mr. Arthur H. “Snooky” Wallis, Jr.

Mr. Arthur H. “Snooky” Wallis, Jr., age 85, of Decatur, formerly of Franklin, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015.

He was born in Hapeville, GA, were he attended Hapeville High School; he played football and ran track. He then attended GMA (now Woodward) for a football scholarship.

He served as an Air Force Reserve for 3+ years. He was involved in the Korean War and the Civil Air Patrol.

He was involved in many different organization and clubs; Lions Club-tail twister, Lifetime Boy Scout and Scout Master, Co-Director Powers Cross Road Festival, Newnan Coweta Art Association, Falcon 40 Club, volunteer at Warm Springs and attended the Episcopal Church.

He loved animals, cooking especially Japanese and biscuits. He worked for the Hapeville Post Office for 37.5 years were he retired in 1984. He also tended bar at the Malibu Lounge. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his daughter; Christina Phillips.

He is survived by his wife; Roxanne Williams Wallis of Decatur, son; Jeff (Shikha Srivastava) Wallis of Decatur, son-in-law; Stanley Phillips of Riverdale, grandchildren; Allison Phillips (Gabe) Stewart, Jason (Bunny) Phillips, great grandchildren; Summer, Vincent, Kyndall and Isla.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. Floyd Carmack will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
