Mr. Benjamin Bervin ‘Buck’ Hyatt

Mr. Benjamin Bervin “Buck” Hyatt passed away quietly in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Avalon Nursing & Rehab in Newnan.

He was born in Heard County, GA, April 1, 1923 to the late A.J. Hyatt, Sr. and Laura Adams Hyatt. Buck went to work at Arnco Mills as a young man and retired from Arnco Mills in 1985. He was a member of Arnco Baptist Church for many years.

He loved Arnco Church very much and attended faithfully, until having to move to Avalon. He loved going to car races with his nephew, Bobby Duffey and to go-cart races with his great nephews, David and Scott Duffey.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters, and is survived by his sister, Irene Hyatt Brown and many nieces and nephews. Condolences can be expressed online at

The graveside service was at Oak Hill Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21 with Dennis Moore officiating, one of his great nephews.

Anyone interested in making contributions in his memory may do so to the Buildings and Grounds fund of Arnco Baptist Church 81 Arnco Third Street Newnan, GA 30263.

And as Buck would always close his prayer, “When we meet our Lord and Savior, we will bow our unworthy heads and give him all the praise and glory. Amen.” Buck did just that Sunday morning.

McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory of Newnan is in charge of the arrangements.
