Mr. Bill Dunn

Mr.  William E. “Bill” Dunn, age 73 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at his home on Monday, June 10, 2013 after many years of declining health.

A memorial service was conducted for Mr. Dunn on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. from the Centralhatchee First Baptist Church in Franklin, Georgia with the Reverend Mark Williams officiating. Music was provided by The Church Choir, and Dennis Pike. The service ended with Military Honors.

Mr. Dunn was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 14, 1939, the son of the late Cora Verneeta Fricks Dunn and William Clyde Dunn.  He was a graduate of the O’Keefe High School, which became part of Georgia Tech.

“Mr. Bill” served his country honorably for two tours of duty in the United States Navy, that and the fact that he was born on Flag Day made him a very proud American. He was retired from Bell South where he was an Installation Technician, but in younger years he was a very accomplished photographer.  He loved his church, Centralhatchee First Baptist, and was always thrilled when he could serve in any capacity.

Anyone that knew him knew he was great at trivia, but he would tell you that “he knew a little about a lot of things, and not a lot about anything.” When his health permitted he loved to fish, but the true joy of his life was his beloved family, especially the grandchildren! He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years; daughter, Rena Cook (Berk) of Carrollton, GA.; two sons Scott Dunn of Costa Rica, and Brad Pierce of South Carolina; one sister, Jeannine Shaw of Marianna, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Centralhatchee First Baptist Church, at 212 Church Street, Franklin, Georgia 30217.

The Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home of Franklin, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.

My Father was a great man. I spoke with him 2 days before his passing and we laughed until our sides hurt about stories of my grandpa. I’m still not coping well- he’s the the only Dad I got. Who do I call now when I need advice? As always, I wish I knew it was our last call. I loved him too much to say.

I learned of Bill’s passing too late too late to attend the service. I loved him deeply though we went our separate ways years ago. I’m heartbroken that I won’t talk with him again, but happy he is again with Ma and Pa.
Rest in peace, my dear friend. Kathy Simmons
