Mr. Bill Linville

LinvilleThe earthly life of Bill Linville ended on 12/12/15.

He spent the last 20 years in Franklin, Georgia, but was formerly of Dayton, Ohio, where he was born on 12/22/1928 to Gladys and John Linville.

He served in the Korean War and worked for NCR before pursuing a career in sign painting. His career took him and his family to Windsor Locks, CT, Lexington, KY, Lithonia and Decatur, GA, and finally, Franklin, GA. He was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church.

He loved to take road trips, often searching the back roads for antique shops. He loved all things whimsical, including repairing and rebuilding old clocks, and collecting old bottles. He was often the life of the party and loved the attention his family gave him; he loved to tease and was always a child at heart, yet willing to help anyone who needed it.

He will be sorely missed by his wife of 63 years, Loretta Johnson Linville, three daughters and a son; Debby (Bill) Morgan of Temple, GA; Randy (Laurie) Linville of Lawrenceville, GA, Brenda (Mike) Maserjian of Taylorsville, GA and Cindy (Tim) Freeman of Winston, GA; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie (Herb) Peer of Dayton, Ohio and Becky (Peter) Candela of Greenville, PA.

He was predeceased by his brother Bob Linville and sister, Nancy Call, and his parents, Gladys and John Linville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, December 16, at Franklin First Baptist Church with the Reverends Talmadge Chandler and Scott Hannah officiating. Music was provided by Robin Lewis, and Caroline Watkins.

Those serving as pallbearers were Matthew Kellaway, Brandon Linville, Luke Freeman, Herb Peer, Zach Candela, and Ryan Call. Honorary pallbearers were Stan Lane, Peter Candela, and Bill Call.
