Mr. Robert D. (Bob) Watkins, 74, of Hogansville, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Hospice LaGrange.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Milton Hall will officiate and interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery.
Mr. Watkins was born April 10, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, son of the late Marjorie O’Shea and Robert Watkins. A veteran of service in the U.S. Navy, he lived in Jonesboro before making his home at Hogansville in 2002, and was a retired construction superintendent. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, was an avid fisherman, and was a die-hard Notre Dame fan.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Watkins of Hogansville; daughters and sons in-law, Cheryl and Matthew Diedrich of Hogansville, Angie and Chris Golden of Senoia, Desiree and Michael Hall of Forney, TX, Kimberly and Kent Onax of South Bend, IN, Corinne Watkins, of Mishawaka, IN; sons and daughters in-law, Roy and Mary Williams of Hogansville, Bobby and Donna Watkins of Hilton Head, SC, Kenneth and Christin Watkins of New Haven, CT, Joe Paul Watkins of Mishawaka, IN; sister, Myrna Stringman of Clearwater, FL; brothers and sisters in-law, Jack and Dee Shipley of Kentucky, Jerry and Mary Watkins, Charles and Marina Watkins, all of Indiana; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
