Mr. Clyde Scott,Sr.

(Ewing, VA) — Clyde Scott, Sr., age 82 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

He was born in Cawood, KY on October 23, 1930,the son of the late Loyd Scott, Sr. and Flossie Price Scott. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.

Clyde was a coal miner and had served as Pastor of the Harvest Time Church in Ewing, VA for the past 35 years. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include is wife of 61 years Martha Bledsoe Scott of the home; two daughters, Linda Cope and Peggy Rhodes and husband Paul of Ewing, VA; three sons, Clyde Scott, Jr. and wife Christine of Ewing, VA, Derrill Scott and wife Wendy of Franklin, GA, Robert Scott and wife Roma of Tazewell,TN; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson;three sisters, Loretta Tyree and husband Donald of Geneva,OH, Betty Mullins and husband Charles of Painesville, OH, Jean Rhoton and husband Bill of Geneva, OH; one brother, Charles Scott of Lithia Springs, GA; two half-brothers, Ray Gibbs and wife Sondra of Morristown, TN, Arvin Gibbs and wife Naomi of St. Albans, WV; one brother-in-law Bill McLain of Noblesville, IN.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, from 6 until 8:00 p.m. in the Harvest Time Church in Ewing, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Harvest Time Church with Rev. Charles Scott, Rev. Robert Scott and Rev. John Britton officiating.

Military Honors will be given by the local VFW and the Virginia National Guard Honors Team at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA.
