Mr. Curtis Stewart

Curtis StewartMr. Curtis Stewart, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on July 1, 2016. He was 78.

Mr. Stewart was born on January 5, 1938 in Newell, Alabama to the late Robert and Lila Stewart.

He was a poultry and cattle farmer and a dedicated member of Sardis Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He had also worked for Miller Poultry in Piedmont, Alabama.

Mr. Stewart was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association and served on the Board of Directors for Carroll County Farm Bureau. In 1994, he was selected as the Carroll County Farmer of the Year.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jay Harrington.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maxcine Geter Stewart; his five daughters, Rita Mintz (Walt), Ronda Phillips, Robbie Caldwell (Tim), Lorie Teal (Scott), and Kelly Yarbrough (Chuck); his siblings, Marvolene Smith, Billy Stewart (Susan), Betty Shelton (Jack), and Patsy Daniel; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Bro. Darnell Teal and Bro. Kevin Geter will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Scot Harrington, Stewart Teal, Ethan Caldwell, Eli Caldwell, Nathan Teal, and Josh Caldwell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 2, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make contributions in Mr. Stewart’s memory to Sardis Baptist Church (4265 Highway 100 South, Bowdon, GA 30108).

Rainwater Funeral Home of Bowdon is in charge of the arrangements.
