Mr. Dave Lannen

Mr. David Lee Lannen, age 63, owner and operator of Store to Door Pizza, of Franklin, passed away May 17, 2020.

Dave was born May 5, 1957 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to the late Richard Allen Lannen and Anna Girster Lannen.

As a boy he enjoyed riding his bike along the Susquehanna River. He would tell about the flood of 1972 caused by the remnants of Hurricane Agnes.

He graduated from Lock Haven Senior High School in 1976 and attended the Pennsylvania College of Technology where he earned an associates degree in engineering. This led to a love of all things electronic. He was famous for generating all of the electricity needed for his house with solar panels.

His love of small towns drew him to Newnan where he founded C&D’s Pizzeria. He later expanded his business to Franklin, where he opened Store to Door Pizza in 1988. It was originally located on the square where Available Realty is located today. Through the years he employed local high school students, who became lifelong friends.

The business became successful, so he moved across the river to the “Hilltop” and opened The Pizza Place. He stayed in that location until circumstances forced him to sell the business.

Sometime later, Dave and another good friend, Jim Vaughn, opened a new restaurant in the current location. They brought back the old name (Store to Door Pizza), and returned to food delivery. Many customers have eaten countless meals served by Dave and his employees.

Recently Dave brought one of his longtime employees, Danielle Boggus, along as his partner in the business to ensure that the restaurant will serve Franklin for many years to come.

One of Dave’s favorite pastimes was photography. The wall of Store to Door Pizza is lined with many of his favorite pictures of family, former employees, and customers.

He also enjoyed deer hunting and alternative rock music. He was famous for his love of coffee, and adored his dogs.

He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He also had a big heart for his community. He always tried to support the local businesses whenever he could.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Lannen of Franklin; one daughter, Autumn Lannen of Baton Rouge, LA; two sons, Dylan Lannen of Newnan and Austin Lannen (Kelly) of Hogansville; two step-daughters, Jessica Story of Franklin and Patricia Story Smith (Kaylon) of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Willow Brady, Leigha Brady, Mason Lannen, Wesley Johnson, and Brylor Sheppard; one sister, Nancy Lannen; two brothers, John Lannen and Dale Lannen; other relatives; and a host of employees, customers and friends from Store to Door Pizza.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ilona Sparks, and two brothers, Kenny Lannen and Richard Lannen.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.

Those who wish may write memorial tributes at www.stuttsfuneralhome.com.
