Mr. Deck McKenzie

Mr. Charles Deckard “Deck” McKenzie, age 65, of Franklin passed away Saturday May 20, 2017.

Funeral services for Mr. McKenzie will be conducted Tuesday May 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Hannah and Nathaniel McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin City Cemetery.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mr. McKenzie was born October 22, 1951 in Franklin to the late James Deckard McKenzie and Stella Francis Smith McKenzie. He was an active member of Franklin First Baptist Church.

He proudly served his country in the Marines, and was stationed on the island of Okinawa during the Vietnam Conflict.

Before his retirement, he worked as a diesel technician for Yancey Brothers. He used his talent for tinkering with engines at home, and loved to work on tractors and classic cars.

His most cherished moments were times spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

In his spare time he enjoyed farming and working outside. He also liked to watch classic TV westerns.

Survivors include his loving wife, Robin McKenzie of Franklin; one daughter, Amanda Hamilton (Chris) of Atlanta; two sons, Ryan McKenzie (Lindsay) and Nathaniel McKenzie (Hannah) both of Franklin; nine grandchildren; one sister, Linda Brooks of Franklin; two brothers, Marvin McKenzie of Stockbridge and Doyle McKenzie (Sharon) of Sharpsburg; and a number of other relatives and friends.
