Mr. Etsel Hornsby

Mr. Etsel JC Hornsby, age 84, of Franklin passed away Monday January 22, 2018.

Funeral services for Mr. Hornsby will be conducted Wednesday January 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Centralhatchee First Baptist Church with Mr. Terry Harper, Mr. Nat McKenzie and Rev. Doug Bingham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

Mr. Hornsby was born September 15, 1933 in Randolph County, AL to the late Joseph Thompson Hornsby and Essie Susie Gillespie Hornsby.

He was a faithful member of Centralhatchee First Baptist Church, and attended every Sunday until his health began to fail him.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a shipping supervisor for Douglas Lommason in Newnan.

At home, he liked to play the guitar and spend time with his family, whom he loved dearly. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He particularly enjoyed hunting rabbits, and had several dogs that served him well in the woods. He always had a four-wheeler or a golf cart that he would drive around the area. His grandchildren always looked forward to a ride with their grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Toby Hornsby of Franklin; three daughters, Katrnia Prince (Jerry) of Franklin, Kacelia Hornsby (Steve McElroy) of Carrollton, and Angelia Bailey (Scott) of Franklin; four grandchildren, Jason Prince, Chant Bailey, Bria Buongiorno and Joseph Forman; six great-grandchildren, Maddison, Liara and Sophia Bailey, Chloe Jones, Bentley Forman and Lily McCormick; two sisters, Eris Walston and Jean Kitchens both of Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Zeke Bailey; three sisters, Willie Kate Hembree, Eunice Ridley and Era Walston; and a brother, Coy Hornsby.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children in his name.
