Mr. Fred Waters

Waters, FredMr. Fred Waters, age 90 of Roopville, entered into Glory on Monday, February 08, 2016.

He was born August 09, 1925 in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Mr. Frank B. Waters and Mrs. Allie Bell Collins Waters.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and devoted his life in education as a mentor to his students and faculty in various counties and later retired as an administrator.

He wishes to be remembered as a child of God, saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, and a thankful person who loved life, people and all of God’s creation. He was a member of Roopville Road Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Grady B. Waters and Frank A. Waters; sister, Allie Mae Waters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Zane Caswell Waters of Roopville; children, Judith “Judy” Elaine Bryan of Jacksonville, FL, Joy Lynne Hagins (Sam) of Carrollton, Janne Kaye Atkins (Bill) of Marietta, GA, and Terri Whitehurst (Mike) of Acworth, GA; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Roopville Road Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Robinson and Dr. Stephen Peeples officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Don Caswell, Mike Walls, Will Atkins, Barrett Atkins, Lon Bryan, and Darius Dalton. Honorary pallbearers will be Corley Holbrook, Jimmie Connor, Andrew McElveen and Billy Caswell.

The family will receive friends at the church Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the love and devotion of caregivers Gwyn Brown, Pat Hosey, Kim Flaga, and Judy Johnson.
