Mr. Cassell was born in Franklin, Georgia on May 6, 1929, the son of the late Ida Irene Burson Cassell and Judson Cassell. He was a Christian by faith. After high school he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

For all of his working life he was well known for being one of the most outstanding mechanics in the area. After working for many years he decided to further his education so he could teach the trade that he was so accomplished in.

After taking classes at Georgia Tech he became a certified teacher at the Carroll Technical College in the field of Auto Mechanics. He thoroughly enjoyed working with young people and sharing his knowledge with them.

In his spare time he loved hunting and fishing but his all-time favorite hobby was playing the guitar. His talents led him to be a part of the band “Country Playboys” who played concerts, and radio and television shows all over the south.

After retirement he and his wife Doris loved taking trips on the motor cycle and camping with friends. He was a loving father who doted on his grandchildren. He will long be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Doris Hannah Cassell; daughter, Robin McKenzie (Deck); son, Lamar Cassell (Angie), all of Franklin, Georgia; sister Carroll Ann Ray (Walter) of Valdosta, GA.; brother, Truman Cassell (Christine) of Carrollton, GA.; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
