Mr. Jerry Bussey

Mr. Bobby Jerry Bussey, age 72, of Franklin, GA passed away Tuesday August 16, 2016 at Tanner Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Bussey will be conducted Friday August 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Revs. Lynn Janney and Rich Pike officiating. The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mr. Bussey was born December 22, 1943 in Franklin to the late James Robert Bussey and Nina Mae Adams. He was a Christian by faith.

He worked as a supervisor for Printed Fabrics for 20 years until an injury forced him into retirement. Being an entrepreneur at heart, he later opened ‘All That Glitters,’ a jewelry store that became a fixture on the Franklin town square.

After the building housing the store was demolished, he opened a new location near the Heard-Carroll County line. He expanded his operation and sold carpet along with his usual inventory. He operated this store until his health forced him to close for good.

In his spare time he enjoyed going to flea markets. He loved finding “diamonds in the rough” others overlooked at sales. He became an “herb doctor” and offered advice on alternative medicines for every ailment.

Always a jokester, he loved to keep something going to liven up the mood. He always offered thoughtful words to anyone who needed a little bit of encouragement.

Survivors include one daughter, Shea Bailey; two sons, Darren Bussey (Roxanne) and Nicholas Bussey (Sunshine) all of Franklin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Diane McCormick (James) of Ranburne; Susan Patterson (Clyde) of Woodland; and Janice Smith (Everett) of Ranburne; five brothers, Tillman Bussey (Beth) of Cedartown; Johnny Bussey of Franklin, David Bussey of Villa Rica; Randy Bussey of Greenville; and Robbie Bussey (Lana) of Franklin; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delores Tuggle Bussey, and son-in-law, Brent Bailey.
