Mr. Joel Alexander “Alex” McLeroy

Mr. Joel Alexander “Alex” McLeroy, age 24 of Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born May 27, 1991 in Carrollton, Georgia to Joel S. McLeroy and Wanice White Odell.

Alex loved God, his family, and basketball. Alex was an avid sports fan, it didn’t matter if it was playing a hand of Rook with his Papa McLeroy (who’s a master at playing), fishing & hunting with his Dad, Mike, and Jeremy, riding four-wheelers with his cousins, shooting baskets with his Buddies, or golfing with Mom and Rich, he just loved spending time with the people he loved!

Alex always tried to help everyone, it don’t come as a surprise for him to be an organ donor through Life Link. Alex had the biggest heart of gold out of anyone I know, and those lovely blue eyes of his that would just melt us girls.

May those who received these blessings continue to bless others. He was a loving son, brother, and friend. He was enrolled at West Georgia Technical College and very excited to begin Welding Classes on January 7, 2016.

He was employed as a Cap Team Associate at Wal-Mart in Bremen. He was a member of Roopville Road Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his aunt, Denise White Rivers.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Joel S. and MaryAnn McLeroy of Newnan; mother and step-father, Wanice White Odell (Rich) of Carrollton; and grandparents, Michael E. and Edna White of Carrollton, Gordon and Mary Julia McLeroy of Bowdon, David and Sylvia Odell of Cordele, Georgia; sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew, Hannah, Jeremy, Emalyn, and Colby North of Bowdon; step-brother and step-sister-in-law, nephew, Rick Jr., Anna, and Rowen Odell of Orlando, Florida; step-brother, Scott Odell of Powder Springs; aunt, Michelle Dooley of Douglasville; uncle, Michael E.
