Mr. Nolen Jones

Mr. Nolen Lynwood Jones, age 76, of Franklin, GA passed away Saturday September 3, 2011 at Carrollton Nursing and Rehab Center after several years of declining health.

Mr. Jones was born May 4, 1935 in Fort Payne, Alabama to the late “Bill” Waymon Benjamin Jones and Mattie Lee Pippen Jones.

Known with affection as “Sonny Boy”, he was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a beloved brother and friend. He was retired from the State of Georgia Industries for the Blind after over forty years of service.

During that time his beloved friends Mattie Hester and her late husband Albert provided a home and transportation to and from work for Nolan.

This great act of love endeared them to both Nolen, and his family.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones were conducted Tuesday September 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Unity Baptist Church in the Roosterville Community with the Reverends Cecil Davis, Bobby Robinson, and Jimmy Sanders officiating.

Music was provided by Terry Hornsby, Janet Walsh, and Jimmy Sanders. Those serving as pallbearers were Jerry Sanders, Jackie Sanders, Rudy Golden, Larry Beach, Leroy Evans, Donny Dunlap, Wilburn C. Doley, and James Fuller.

The interment followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include one beloved brother, Waymon Jones of Franklin; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Jones.

Special thanks to Mattie Hester, Cecil Davis, Bobby Robinson, Benny Laster, James Fuller, Ray Summers, Rudy Golden, and Kay Pippen, and many others who brought joy to Nolen’s life.
