Mr. Ray S. Bailey

Mr. Ray S. Bailey, 80, of Newnan, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 5, 2017.

Ray was born in Randolph County, Alabama on October 17, 1936 to the late Travis Bailey and Mattie Hardy Bailey. Also preceding him in death is his son, Brent Bailey.

Ray was employed and retired with the Bell South Company after 31 years. Once retired, he built houses in Newnan for more than 10 years and enjoyed his passion of restoring vintage tractors, having restored over 160 through the years. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha Ann Helton Bailey; sons, Tab Gladney (Nina) of Florida, Greg Gladney (Suzanne) of Moreland, Sherald Bailey of Alabama, Scott Bailey (Angie) of Franklin and Chris Bailey of Franklin; daughter, Kim Nutt (Johnny) of Franklin.

Ray is also survived by numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with pastors Jimmy Lee and Kevin Couch. The interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service.

The family would like to graciously thank Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and care during this hour of need. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of Mr. Ray.
