Mr. Samuel Andrew Carroll, Jr., age 70 of Roopville, Georgia passed away at his home on August 25, 2013 after several years of declining health.

Funeral services for Mr. Carroll were conducted on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, 2:00 P.M. at the Glenloch Baptist Church with the Reverends Bo Hendon and Neil Awbrey officiating.

Mr. Carroll’s oldest son, Tony Carroll gave a loving tribute to his father. Music was provided by Ginger Stutts and Bo Hendon. Those serving as pallbearers were Wendell Jiles, Gary Parker, John Farmer, Bobby Atkins, Brad Cole, and Bill Edmonson. The entombment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Carroll was born in Whitesburg, Georgia on June 15, 1943, the son of the late Minnie Bell Cook Carroll and Samuel Andrew Carroll. He was a retired truck driver for the Yellow Freight Lines, and was a Christian by faith. Mr. Carroll loved music, and in his younger days was a singer and guitar player in the “Blue Haze Band.” He was an avid huntsman, and fisherman. He always had a beautiful vegetable garden. He loved his family deeply and they loved him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Washington Carroll of Roopville, GA.; three sons, Tony and Lorrie Carroll of Griffin, GA., Sammy and Tammy Carroll, and Marty and Christine Carroll all of Roopville, GA.; two sisters, and two brothers, Sybil Morrow, and Lois Wilson, and Calvin and Hubert Carroll all of Carrollton, GA.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Carroll.

Those who wish may make donations to the existing building fund debt at the Glenloch Baptist Church.

The Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home of Franklin, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.

  1. Pawpaw, as we know him, is already greatly missed. Tears of sorrow and heartbreaking moments have occurred, but we know where our Daddy is and we thank the Lord for His saving Grace. RIP PawPaw, we loved you in life, we still love you and forever will love you. you are and will be missed so very much! But I will see you again, and I’m counting on that…..
