Mr. Theron Shirley Sanders, age 90 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at his home on Friday, November 30, 2012.
Funeral services for Mr. Sanders were conducted on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 3:00 P.M.( Eastern Standard Time), from the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Michael Hornsby and Steve Barr officiating.
Music was provided by Troy Barr and Leesa Stutts Cothran. Those serving as pallbearers were Frank Holloway, Wayne Davis, Ray Holloway, Mark Brown, Randy Sanders, and Don Newman. The interment followed in the Paran Baptist Church in Randolph County, Alabama.
Mr. Sanders was born on June 10, 1922, in Camp Hill, Alabama, the son of the late Sara Kate Coggin Sanders and Henry Alonzo Hamilton Sanders. After graduating from Heard County High School, Mr. Sanders enlisted in the United States Army. For his gallantry he received the American Theater Ribbon, EAMET Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.
After returning he married the love of his life, Mimmie Lou Holloway. Their marriage has survived and thrived for over 58 years. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was both a self employed mechanic and a Pulp Wooder. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Lou Sanders of Franklin, GA.; daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Wayne Davis of Newnan, GA.; one brother, Julian and Emily Sanders of Pine Mountain, GA.; two grandsons, Andrew Davis of Augusta, GA., and Michael Davis of Newnan, GA.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Ivis Sanders Anderson; and one brother, Durell Sanders.
