Mr. Wendell E. Langley

Mr. Wendell E. Langley, age 79, of Roopville (Ephesus) GA passed away on May 18, 2020.

He was born on November 04, 1940 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late “C.L.” Langley and Pauline Robinson Langley.

He was a Christian by Faith and a resident of Ephesus most of his life.

He had a long career as a mechanic in Heard County. He helped establish the first Volunteer Fire Department in Ephesus. He also kept the state surplus trucks running and reliable to be used when they were needed.

He worked at Ford Motor Co. and owned his own garage and repair shop (Langley’s Garage). He served the children of Heard County as a School Bus Driver for 33 years.

He was also the owner of H&W Trucking for several years before ending his career with Blossman Gas as an LP gas tanker driver.

His favorite pastimes were camping, driving his tractor, and telling stories about growing up and his adventures while driving the long-haul tractor trailer (You would laugh until your chest hurt). He was always ready to help anyone who needed help. His most precious time was being with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Marty L. Langley and a grandson, David Wendell Langley.

He is survived by “The LOVE of his Life” Elaine Merrill of Ephesus; three sons, Dave W. Langley (Jennifer) of Ephesus; Brent Merrill (Melody), and Lance Merrill (Alyssa); and two daughters, Anna Cook of Centralhatchee and Laura (Ian) Harbin of Senoia; two brothers, Jimmy Langley (Brenda) and Durell Langley (Janet); and one sister, Wilma Brandenburg (Gary); 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date and will be held at the Ephesus Community Center.

Stutts Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
