Mr. William Thomas Barber, age 75, of Hogansville passed away Tuesday September 5, 2017.
A memorial service for Mr. Barber will be held Saturday September 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Milton Hall officiating.
The family will accept guests at Corinth Baptist Church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.
Mr. Barber was born December 31, 1941 to the late Homer Thomas Barber and Eva Mae Carroll Barber. He was a Baptist by faith, went to church each Sunday he was able, and loved to read his Bible.
He served his country honorably in the US Army, and retired as a 1’st Sergeant after twenty years of service. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning the following medals: a bronze star, a silver star, and a purple heart. His career in the Army instilled a love of travelling, a passion he enjoyed into his later years.
In his spare time he enjoyed listening to Gospel music. He also liked to restore old cars.
Survivors include: one sister, Mary Andrews of Franklin; two brothers: Kenneth Barber (Patricia) of Jacksonville, FL and Darrell Barber (Jan) of Villa Rica; nieces: Heather Morgan, Michelle Barclay, and Cynthia Warren; nephews: Darrell Barber, Jr. and Jimmy Ballinger; and a number of other relatives and friends.
RIP In wild bill! You will be missed so much more then you’ll ever know! I will miss your whit about you your military stories and most of all I will miss hearing you call me “sport” Bill dont you worry about anything up there we will take care of everything down here for you! I love you and I miss you and Know Saturday will be so hard on me. Because its not Goodbye its I wil see you again! Love you always Your Sport
