Mrs. Betty Pope

Mrs. Betty Jo Hopson Pope, age 75 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at her home on Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pope were conducted on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. from the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Brett Mathews officiating.

Music was provided by Nancy, Elizabeth, and Rebecca Heard. Those serving as pallbearers were Chris Pope, Timothy Plunkett, Brandon Stitt, Roger Gosdin, Talmadge Phillips, and Bob Donnet. The interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Pope was born in Franklin, Georgia on August 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Geneva Denney Hopson and Joseph Hopson. For many years she worked in the textile industry as a seamstress for both “Baby Cloths Manufacturing Company,” and “Playtex.”

In later years she was a receptionist for an insurance company. After retirement “Miss Betty” was kept busy with all the local alterations that Franklin residents brought to her door steps. Her care with their garments kept all her clients in top shape.

She was an active member of the Franklin United Methodist Church, and made sure that her two son’s Mark and Mike were there participating in every service. She was kind and loving to all she knew. She he will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ravonda Pope of Franklin, GA.; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Aubrey McClain also of Franklin, GA.; grandchildren, Chris and Nikki Pope of St Simons Island, GA., and Sonja Pope of Franklin, GA.; three step -grandchildren, Amber Plunkett of Roanoke, AL., Timothy Plunkett of Waco, GA., and Brandon Stitt also of Waco, GA.; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and son, Hulet and Michel Pope, parents, Geneva and Joseph Hopson, and daughter-in-law, Dee Pope.

Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home of Franklin, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
