Mrs. Betty Pope Cassell

Mrs. Betty Ann Pope Cassell, age72 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at her residence on Friday April 26, 2013.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cassell were conducted on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. from the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Lynn Janney and Chuck Pope officiating. Music was provided by Leesa Stutts Cothran.

Those serving as pallbearers were Lee Phillips, Al Pope, James Pope, Jared Pope, Larry Pope, Robert L. Dorrough, Shawn Pope, and Eddie Cavender. The interment followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Cassell was born in Franklin, Georgia, the daughter of the late Lema Adis Pope and Henry Allen “Gid” Pope. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.

Miss. Betty will long be remember by the children of Heard County for the wonderful lunches she helped to prepare and serve in several of the county’s school lunch rooms. Her sense of humor made her a favorite among the students. She was a beloved mother, sister, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by one son, Wade Cassell of Kennesaw, GA.; three sisters, Noreen Dorrough of Villa Rica, GA., Jeanette Moon (Don) of Tampa, Fla., and Shirley Sheppard (Camron) of Franklin, GA.; two brothers, Randy Pope (Lucille) of LaGrange, GA., and Harold Pope (Patricia) of Newnan, GA.; two sisters-in-law, Burla Mae Pope of Mableton, GA., and Becky Pope of Franklin, GA.; and dear friend, Kandy Hand of Franklin, GA.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Selma Louise Pope, Janice Pope, Lucrete Cavender, Barbara Nell Pope, Baby Boy Pope, Kenneth Pope, Edwin Pope, H. A. Pope, Wendell Pope, Jimmy Pope, and Michael Pope.

The Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
