Mrs. Debra Hyatt Cohen

Mrs. Debra Ann Hyatt Cohen, age 63 of Franklin, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, Georgia.

Mrs. Cohen was born in Franklin, Georgia on September 5, 1951, the daughter of Annie Lee Hubbard Hyatt and the late Newman Reese Hyatt.

Debra grew up in Heard County, Georgia where she was a popular student who especially enjoyed being a part of the Future Homemakers of America.

She had an adventurous spirit and loved to see the world. This led her to meet the love of her life, Saul Cohen. They married and lived in White Plains, New York.

Shortly after their marriage Debra returned to college at Pace University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She loved being a wife and mother and spent most of her adult life in that capacity.

Her need to serve others was always obvious by the care that she gave free heartedly to many of her friends who were elderly and in need of her love and medical knowledge.

There were many deeds that went unnoticed by others because of her desire to serve without recognition. She was a faithful member of the Franklin United Methodist Church. Her keen mind and desire for knowledge made her and avid reader who loved to travel to the places she read about. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Saul Cohen of White Plains, NY; daughter, Kristi Cohen of Winder, GA.;  son, Billy Cohen of Franklin, GA.; sisters, Jane and Mal Milam of Franklin, GA., and Pam and Allen Lane of Carrollton, GA.; brothers, Skip and Debbie Hyatt of Franklin, GA., and Robert Hyatt of LaGrange, GA; three grandchildren; and several adoring nieces and nephews.

Other than her father she was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Hyatt; and one nephew, T. J. Hyatt.
