Mrs. Debra Joyce Slocum Montgomery, age 64 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at the Hospice Lagrange, in LaGrange, Georgia on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
Funeral services for Mrs. Montgomery were conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. from the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jessie Hughes officiating. The interment followed in the Franklin City Cemetery. Music was provided by Leesa Stutts Cothran. Those serving as pallbearers were Brandon Williams, John Williams, Jamie Williams, Cale Stone, Corey Slocum, and Avery Cason.
Mrs. Montgomery was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 9, 1948, the daughter of the late Virginia Mae Roberts Slocum Cox and Wilton Cory Slocum. She was a Christian by faith. For most of her life her total existence had revolved around her family. Until the death of her beloved husband, James Carrington Montgomery, she was a wonderful wife and mother. She then single handedly carried on the family, devoting all her time to her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Williams (Carlos); one son James Montgomery, all of Franklin, Georgia; one sister, Donna Cason of Hogansville, GA.; one brother, David Slocum of Redan, GA.; three grandchildren, Samantha, John, and Brandon; and three great-grandchildren.
