Mrs. Effie Bea Cole

Mrs. Effie Bea Folds Cole passed from this world to her heavenly home January 2, 2017 at Hospice LaGrange.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cole will be conducted Wednesday January 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Antioch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Cole was born April 8, 1919, and lived a full life of 97 years. She was a native of Randolph County, Alabama, the third of 10 children born to the late Noah Lee Folds and Lizzie Daniel Folds.

She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” S. Cole, August 31, 1946. He passed away in 1988. Her family was her world, and her front porch was always a welcome place for all. She always had a positive outlook on life, and it was said that she never had time to be sad.

She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, and attended every day she was able. One of her favorite pastimes was baking. She loved to visit others in the community and share her cheese straws and delicious fried pies. She also enjoyed quilting, and made quilts with the local quilting ladies on many occasions.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, DeLaney Ayres (Thomas) of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, Melvin Cole (Lillie) of Franklin; grandchildren, Stephanie McLain, Justin Cole (Kristen), Sean Ayres (Anna), and Morgan Ayres; great-grandchildren, Abigail McLain, Ansley McLain, and Samantha Cole; sisters, Ruby Garner Thompson (David), Jewell Shirey Bartlett, and Carolyn Johnson Flourney (Hollis); sister-in-law, Irene Folds; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Myrtie Yearwood, Narcissa Cole, Fannie Wright, and Ruth Denney; brothers, C. G. Folds and Jerry Folds; and sister-in-law June Folds.

The family will be at the home of Melvin and Lillie Cole, 264 Doc Fisher Rd. Flowers will be accepted, but donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Mrs. Cole’s memory.
