Mrs. Elsie Lee Wright

Mrs. Elsie Lee Wright, age 85, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at her home in Panama City Beach, FL, after several months of declining health.

Mrs. Wright was born August 3, 1930, in Franklin, Georgia, the daughter of the late James C. and Mattie Lee Skinner Powell.

Mrs. Wright had lived most of her life in LaGrange before retiring to Panama City Beach in 2004. She was of the Christian faith and retired from the LaGrange Police Department. Her family was her greatest joy; to them, she was a source of strength, comfort, and love. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. She enjoyed caring for her family and taking care of her beloved canine companion, Daisy.

Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by siblings William Freeman Powell (Ruth; Dallas, TX), Theodore Powell (Franklin, GA); Frank Powell (Huntsville, TX); Irene V. Gibson (Las Vegas, NV), Hazel Powell (Franklin, GA), Belle Marie Vinson Forbes (Colquitt, GA); Annie Cecil Jones (Tumwater, WA); her former husbands, William Albert Pursley and Rufus Bobby Wright, her daughter Brenda Diane Pursley; two grandsons, Milton Fincher and Jeremy Scott Pursley; great-grandson Fisher Lane Pursley.

Survivors include son James Bishop Pursley (Wendy) of Warm Springs, sons Bill Pursley (Marilyn) and C. J. Bradley and daughters Brenda Harden and Erica Harden of Panama City Beach, Florida; daughter Shelby Jean Null of Tallassee, Alabama; daughters Elsie Christine Overholser (Norman) and Joyce Lee Fincher of Whitesville; daughter Kathryn Knight (Danny) of Edinburg, Texas; grandchildren Kerry Cothran, Ariel Hensley, Brandi Lanier, Elicia Gordy, Jessica Klebs, Dana Haner, Shane Pursley, Steven Pursley, Mason Bradley, Rheanna Harden, Greg Wood, Christopher McCormick, Jenny McCormick, Linda Anderson, Craig Overholser, Jonathan Overholser, Andrew Overholser, LeeAnn Brashers, and Joshua Knight.

She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren and three on the way; her stepmother, Lillian Powell (Trenton, NJ); sister Lillian Opdycke (Don; Pemberton, NJ); brothers Ronald Powell (Bonnie; Dallas, TX), and Bobby Powell (Columbus, GA).

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shadowlawn Cemetery with Pastor Cole Bailey officiating. Visitation will take place at the graveside one hour before the service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at
