Mrs. Era Walston Parker

Mrs. Era Hornsby Walston Parker, age 83 of Franklin, Georgia passed at her home on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be conducted on Thursday, February, 16, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. from the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Veitch officiating. The interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home Wednesday evening, February 15, 2012 from 6-8 P.M.

Mrs. Parker was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia on September 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Joseph Thompson Hornsby and Essie Gillespie Hornsby. She was a Christian by faith, and a member of the working force from the time she was fourteen years old.

As a youngster she worked in the textile industry, and in her later years she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at the Franklin Healthcare Center, where she enjoyed the patients and brought much joy to their lives.

“Miss Era” was known for her great sense of humor. Her mere presence could light up any room. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Rowland (Steve) of Bowdon, GA., and Terannie Brumbelow (Charles Blaine) of Franklin, GA.; four sisters, Willie Kate Hembree, her twin Eris Walston, Jean Kitchens all of Franklin, GA., and Eunice Ridley of LaGrange, GA.; one brother, Etsel Hornsby (Toby) of Franklin, GA.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents she was preceded by one beloved brother, Coy Hornsby.

Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home of Franklin,GA are in charge of the arrangements.
